Cody Angerman
Hey everyone! My name is Cody Angerman, and I'm from Placerville, CA (where you stop on the way to Lake Tahoe). I spent almost a decade after high school working in inpatient and outpatient pharmacy while also completing undergraduate studies at Sonoma State University. I then went on to earn my PharmD from UCSF and had the pleasure of completing clinical rotations here at UC Davis. What I loved most about UC Davis were the amazing preceptors, patients, and the diverse clinical experiences all wrapped up in a progressive and supportive health system. I couldn't be more excited to remain here for my PGY-1 residency! Outside of pharmacy, I enjoy skiing, spending days at the lake with friends, trying new restaurants, and video games!
Richard Ishimaru
Hello! My name is Richard Ishimaru and I am a California native. I was born near Sacramento, CA and grew up in the central valley in a tiny town called Reedley, just outside of Fresno, CA. I am a graduate of Sacramento State University where I studied Biology with a Biomedical Science concentration. I received my Pharm.D. from UC San Francisco and I am happy to be back in the Sacramento area. In addition to my pharmacy journey, I am also in my 11th year of service with the United States Air Force Reserve where I am an Instructor Loadmaster for the 312th Airlift Squadron of Travis AFB. I love eating, watching too many shows, playing volleyball, trying to stay fit, and skiing. My current areas of clinical interest include emergency medicine, infectious disease, and pediatrics. UC Davis Health has been an incredible center to learn in and I am beyond excited to continue growing with the guidance of its wonderful pharmacists and healthcare professionals.
Stepfanie Lam
Hi everyone! My name is Stepfanie Lam, and I was born near Sacramento, CA but grew up in the Bay Area. I went to University of Florida (Go Gators!) where I studied Microbiology & Cell Sciences, and I later earned my PharmD from UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with family & friends, playing tennis, exploring coffee shops, binge-watching TV shows, and taking care of my succulents & orchids. My current clinical interests include hematology/oncology, transitions of care, and cardiology, all of which I am very excited to further explore at UC Davis Health. UC Davis Health is a program I could see myself growing with and would provide me the opportunity to serve a diverse population. I look forward to working alongside their incredible team!
Catherine Mueller
Hi Everyone! My name is Catherine, and I'm from Fresno (AKA the armpit of California). Despite my low tolerance for hot weather I stayed in Fresno to complete my B.S. in Biochemistry at Fresno State, then moved to the Bay Area to obtain my PharmD at UCSF. In my free time I love hiking, reading, trying new foods, and baking (and sharing my baked goods with others so I don't gain all the weight!). I had the wonderful opportunity to complete my clinical rotations at UC Davis, where I not only learned from incredibly supportive and passionate clinicans, but also found my passion for medication safety and informatics. I am excited to continue my journey at UC Davis and continue to grow as a clinician!
Kaycey Pearce
Hi! My name is Kaycey. I grew up in Ontario, CA, which had extreme weather without any water element, so I was very eager to move west. The main reason I moved west was to attend UCLA where I earned a BS in physiological sciences. After graduating, I stayed with UCLA for many years as a researcher in Brain Research, specializing in learning and memory. I got my PharmD at USC, a great rival of UCLA, and received much heat from both institutions as I am a sports fan of basketball and football. I love binge-watching Korean drama, specifically in a horizontal position while eating dried squid and drinking non-diet Coke on my days off. I am happily married and reside in Santa Monica with a bunny and a kitty. UC Davis is my dream program, which took a roundabout way and some miracle for me to become its resident. Still, I could not give up on a program with an excellent track record for providing multifaceted and diverse experiences, emphasizing innovation and excellence by delivering best-in-class pharmaceutical care, safety, and evidence-based practice. More importantly, the nurturing and supportive environment provided by the UC Davis family is what I am so excited to experience and grow within.
Griselda Rivera
Hey everyone! My name is Griselda, and I was born and raised in a small town in the Central Valley called Delano. I completed my undergraduate education at UC Santa Barbara, where I studied Biology and Spanish. I later migrated to the Bay Area, where I received my PharmD from UC San Francisco. I enjoy spending time with family (especially my twin sister, who is also a pharmacist), exercising, and binge-watching some of my favorite shows (The Office, Friends, Stranger Things) in my free time. UC Davis Health has exceptional leaders in pharmacy, and I'm looking forward to learning and exploring my clinical interests in emergency medicine, critical care, and oncology within a diverse patient population.
Riley Thompson
Hey everyone! My name is Riley Thompson, I grew up in the northwoods of Minnesota in a small town named Bemidji. After graduating high school I moved to Denver Colorado where I completed my ungraduate degree in Biology from MSU Denver and PharmD at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy. My hobbies include hiking, camping, eating delicious food (so excited to be close to some good CA food!), and spending time with friends and family. My current interest areas include Critical Care and Emergency Medicine (I also enjoy Infectious Diseases woven into these two specialties). I chose UC Davis Health because it's a well rounded program that offers core rotations in areas I want to build skills in such as pediatrics and cardiology along with great critical care rotations. Everyone I interacted with was so kind and supportive throughout the interview process, I truly feel UC Davis Health will offer me a learning environment that will set me up for success. I am incredibly excited to work with the amazing practioners and staff at UC Davis Health!
Kees Vanderwyk
Hey everyone! My name is Kees ("Case") Vanderwyk and I grew up around Placerville, CA. I spent a brief period of time on the East Coast where I met my amazing wife, who has continued to support me throughout my educational journey here in California where I received my PharmD from Touro University California. We have since grown our family to include two little ones which now makes us a family of four living in the Sacramento area. I love to cook (and debatably the more enjoyable part – to eat good food), hang in the hammock on a nice day, take my family on outdoor trips whether it be the beach or the woods, and watch movies with them at the drive-in. My current clinical interests include cardiology and infectious diseases, both of which I am thoroughly looking forward to experiencing more of here at UC Davis Health. UC Davis Health struck me as a program I could grow with and one that takes a comprehensive approach to educating their staff to be the best practitioners they can be. I look forward to working alongside these incredible individuals who have aligned themselves with the goal of helping others and educating those that come after to do the same.
Emily Warner
Hi everyone, my name is Emily! I am originally from Placerville, CA. I am thrilled to be back in Northern California, so close to my old stomping grounds. I spent the last 8 years in Utah completing my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Utah State and my PharmD at the University of Utah (Go Utes!). I love anything outdoors-related involving water (e.g., river rafting, kayaking, and swimming). Apart from my love of the outdoors, I enjoy puzzles, knitting/crocheting, going to baseball games, and spending time with family. My clinical interests are internal medicine and critical care. I am excited to work alongside some of the best pharmacists and clinicians on the west coast. It is such a privilege to be at UC Davis Health and I cannot wait to learn and grow as a pharmacist over the next year.
Ryan Whalen
Hello, my name is Ryan Whalen and I am originally from Eugene, Oregon. After finishing high school I moved down to Los Angeles and earned a B.A in Biology and History at Occidental College. I then moved up north to Washington to complete my Pharm.D. at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy. During my free time I enjoy baking (especially cookies and cakes, but trying to get better at breads and pastries), golfing, hanging out with friends, exploring outside, and checking out new foods. My areas of clinical interest include pediatrics and infectious disease. I am excited to join UC Davis for this upcoming year and develop my clinical skills at a program that has a robust patient population and diverse rotations. I look forward to learning and growing with my fellow coresidents.
